BERRYESSA SENIOR NEWSLETTER

JULY 2008 966-0206

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Things are very depressing around the area with the impending closure of the four resorts on the west side of the lake. It will make for a stressful summer for the many recreational boaters due to having only one boat launch open at Capell. That aside, since there is little we can do about it, letÕs all have a happy Independence Day and come join the fun at Casino Night on July 19.

The turnout for the Wine and Cheese Tasting event on June 19 was not as great as last year, but a fun time was had by those in attendance.

Our membership count to date is 106 plus our life time member and benefactor

Elsie Plunkett.

As of June 16, we have collected $1,424.50 towards the Big Screen TV. A special thanks to Pastor Randal Roach of the Community Church of Lake Berryessa and Pastor Bob Lee of the Valley Christian Church for their donation of $750.00. This dollar amount was received in part from the Envior Sports triathlon which was held this past May at the Putah Creek Resort. The money raised by this event is donated to the two churches and they intern have given this gift to the Berryessa Senior Center towards the purchase of our big screen TV. Thank you both.

At upcoming events we are planning to implement a 50/50 raffle. 50% of the money received to buy a raffle ticket will be given to a lucky ticket winner, while the remaining 50% will be put into the Big Screen TV kitty.

Our next Pot Luck will be on Saturday, August 16 and will be our annual BBQ. Bring your own main meat course, and Paul will barbecue it for you if you like, also bring a side dish for at least 8 people and an appetizer/and or dessert. More information regarding this will be in a later edition.
